NEW HAVEN POLICE PROVIDE UPDATED INFORMATION & SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE ON TODAY’S SHOOTING INCIDENT
(11/26/2008) NEW HAVEN- At 11:42 this morning, the New Haven Police Department received an emergency 911 call about a man shot in a vehicle on Dixwell Ave at Ford St in front of the former Martin Luther king School. Upon arrival officers located a 53-year-old New Haven resident suffering from a single gunshot wound while inside of a red pickup truck that was stopped in the roadway. The victim was treated on scene and subsequently transported to an area hospital for medical treatment, where he was listed in serious condition. Due to the proximity of the incident to the city school, school security officers placed the school into lock-down mode for a brief period of time, until the scene was secured and it was determined that the school was not involved in the incident. Through the initial investigation police were able to determine that the incident took place in front of 270 West Ivy St, a short distance away. At the present time detectives are attempting to determine a motive for the shooting and are seeking witnesses to this incident.
